Item #1407410825
Beautiful Clarinet with excellent sound and hard case. Used for one semester.

Apparently Selmer and Buffet merged while no one was looking last semester. (there was no picture)

No they haven't merged. Someone has mismatched parts or case or mouthpiece or something.

It may just be the advertising ploy often used, searches will return both names and list the item.
It's sort of a "Billboard" approach, like "Sticky" websites and other noxious netizen nastiness.

Will Buffet and Selmer parts fit together right? Has anybody ever tried to play on a "mule" (hybrid)? Cause if people think it's a mutt then that "Billboard approach" might backfire and make people not want to bid. I assume you can't just mix and match pieces of different instruments like that, right?

I've built a few hybrids (various upper and lower joints/bells/barrels from various brands of clarinet) and...sometimes it works, sometimes if doesn't. You don't know until you try.

As far as mismatched parts, we don't at this point know what pieces have which markings. If the upper and lower joints match, then the bell, barrel, mouthpiece, and case are very often physically interchangeable among the many brands. As to how well they play in tune, I can't say. And many times even different upper and lower joints will fit together.
It could simply be that the case is one brand and the clarinet another. Or it could be that only the mouthpiece is a different brand. In these instances it wouldn't hurt the playability. The case makes no difference and one would assume that a former owner had simply elected to get a different mouthpiece for whatever reason.

Learn the "special characters" like <,>,& and how to write them, along with the <pre></pre> tags - but ...
please don't practice the HTML here. Try them out on your browser (as you probably noted, green on gray is hard to read, and if someone was green colorblind there'd be no message there!)
