I'm playing clarinet after an over 2-year absence. Today. Oh boy! I'm pretty sure where the reed goes.

Just a few hints. The teeth go on the reed so make sure the mouthpiece has the reed on top. You attach the reed using scotch tape and the left thumb holds the clarinet on the bottom joint. Just in case you forgot. :-) ESP eddiesclarinet.com

And blow into the skinny end (where the reed is). Might want to tape your thumb to the bottom joint to keep it from slipping.

And, as long as you have the tape out, tape shut any clarinet keys that you don't need for the keys of C, F or G. Helps reduce mistakes. (I knew a guy that actually did this. It seemed to work for him.)

Two years is nothing. I heard about a community group that wouldn't let someone join if they had played within the last five years.
Scotch tape is good for temporary fixes, but for meaningful repair, you need duct tape.
