Hello,
I am looking for a photograph of a plateau key Lyon & Healy clarinet. This firm made this instrument around the beginning of the 20th century. No museum seems to own one. I wish to use this photograph in an upcoming book I am preparing about this firm. I will give credit to whomever provides a quality photograph. I am also looking for additional information about this clarinet. Yes, I know about The New Langwill Index, the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, and the New Grove Dictionary of Musical Instruments. I have also asked Dr. Al Rice about this instrument. Even the Library of Congress, Music Division's trade catalogs do not cover this instrument. The only references to this instrument I've found are in The Music Trade Review and an online posting that Goodwill sold one of these clarinets. Lyon & Healy began manufacturing clarinets after beginning to manufacture keys for clarinets.
Thank you

It's been my opinion that Lyon and Healy never made clarinets but had their name put on ones made by makers. I think you will find that the clarinet in question was made by LeBlanc in Kenosha,Wi.

I actually don't think he is correct on that one. This is because I own a clarinet made by Lyon n Healy. Its been passed at least 3 generations. I actually stumbled on this looking for its history and value. I have pictures of it with men in ww1 and ww2. Wood case with aligator skin and velvet inside. I only need to replace the cork but, I don't trust anyone. My email is ezg1884@yahoo.com if u want to find out more. later
