I posted this earlier. " I have my own Bb clarinet and am going to get a new one and I have an Eb clarinet on lone from my old high school that I was told I could use as long as I want. My question is, what type of clarinet should I look at geting next? I don't think I want a contra bass,a bass, or an alto clarinet though."
I faild to mention that I play all the woodwinds and I already own my own flute as well, would it be smart to buy some of the others then? I am also learning to play the french horn.

Looks like you're not going down the purist "I play only clarinet" path – then make sure your piano chops are really together. If possible get some proficiency in sight-transposition, playing from a lead-sheet and basic "lugging"...handy for just about any teaching, accompanying or theatre work.

A number of music schools (Michigan State, for example) offer a "woodwind quintet" major, where you develop professional competence on all 5 of the quintet instruments. I have met a few graduates of these programs, and think that while it's in theory possible to play at a professional level on them all, very few people manage to do it. One who has is Ed Lacy, who teaches at the University of Evansville and is a regular on the Klarinet board. His e-mail address is el2@evansville.edu. I've never met him, but by his writing he clearly knows his stuff, and he seems very nice. I'm sure he would welcome a query from you and could give you excellent advice.
