Hello all
I bought a clarinet a few years back and have taught myself how to play.
I went to pick it up today and something is wrong. When I go to play some basic notes it seems that all of the lower notes are playing a few octaves higher then they should without me pressing anything 'unusual'.
It did take a slight tumble the other day. I think something may be out of whack. Any suggestions on how I might try to rectify the issue or what the problem might be?
Since I am self taught I am not as familiar as I should be with the workings of of the instrument.
It didnt look like it sustained any damage when it fell over but perhaps something delicate was pushed out of whack. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I guess it might be some pads went out of shape or something, how about bring it down to a tech for a check up?

It sounds like you've got a leak, probably caused by the tumble. One of the keys on the top joint (the throat A or Ab, or one of the side trill keys) is probably not sealing all the way.
Take it to a reputable tech and have them figure it out!

In many cases it's that the (throat) Ab pad has swollen a bit, thus lifting (via the adj. screw) the A pad a bit.
Loosen the adjustment screw in quarter turns till you experience some "play" or lost motion when you press the A touchpiece until it also lifts the Ab thingy.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. It's really weird because I try to play it and sometimes some of the notes are ok and sometimes the lower ones are a few octaves higher, and sometimes when I try the lower ones won't play at all.
I'll give some of the suggestions a try, and if it still doesn't work I'll take it to a repair shop.
Thanks again
I'll let you know what happens.
