Following up on an earlier post, I saw Ramon Wodkowski in New York during his very successful recent trip. He made a wonderful mouthpiece for my daughter and saved a Charles Bay bass mouthpiece that had real problems, as he had earlier saved a very old Selmer C**. Ramon taught a class on mouthpieces at David Shifrin's Yale class, and visited a number of other cities, working with many major orchestral players (as he does in Europe too).
Others have written on this post about how generous he is with professionals, amateurs, and students alike, and how dead on he is in identifying and fixing problems with existing mpcs. I certainly second that and am also a fan of his own mpcs, which are in my opinion, both excellent and considerably underpriced. Its unfortunate for those of us in the U.S. that he lives in London, but he is great in responding via email and I have sent him many pieces and gotten them back quickly. For those of you who live in Houston, Texas or the immediate area, he will be there in April. Lucky you.
