Has anyone tried Vandoren V-12 reeds for Eb clarinet? Would like to know thoughts of anyone who has played them.

They weren't bad- a bit lacking in color, in my opinion. I prefer the regular Vandoren Eb reeds.

I 2nd the regular cut Eb reeds. I usually play Bluebox 3.5, so I got the 3.5 V12 to try. I assumed they would be of similar or lighter strength.
I found them to be stuffy and, as Mr. Hill states as well, lacking in color possibilities.
Then again, I find that to be the case with Bb V12's much of the time too.

Another vote for regular cut Eb reeds. Though I do play on Bb reeds for Eb exclusively. Eb reeds just do not work well with my mouthpiece and preferences. It's just so much easier to control the altissimo with a Bb reed. But, if you're only looking at Eb reeds only, then I'd just stick with regular blue box.

There are certain Eb mouthpieces that have a Bb facing on them, and usually sound best with a Bb reed.

Buy a box! Its $25 dollars, but may be the best reed option for you! It never hurts to try reeds on your own accord separate from other opinions.
My thoughts, the V-12 Eb reeds can be quite good. I play on a Hawkins model B mouthpiece and the reed seemed very well suited to the mouthpiece. The V-12 have a nice depth and focus to the sound that I didn't quite get from the blue box reeds. Im not at all dissatisfied with blue box however! Last concert it was either a blue box #3 1/2 or a V-12 #4!
