 Early Selmer Signet

I have just finished overhauling an old Signet (without '100' /'Special'/ 'Soloist') with a SN 92XX. I think (to my untrained ear) it sounds better (sweeter) than the 100 or Special. Does anyone have any info on this horn? Thanks.

Thanks for the links. Yes, the keyworks are a bit like the French Selmer.

I also have an early Selmer-Bundy Special , # 7316, that is clearly French keywork, unplated german silver, beautifully finished ( filework, sanding,buffing, fit,etc.). The woodwork also looks french, if the Selmer-Bundy logos didn't say Elkhart, Indiana, I'd say the entire clarinet was made by Selmer in Paris. The wood in the bell is unusually thin. Wonder if that adds any 'resonance'??

Its long been speculated that many Selmer USA clarinets were assembled with french parts near the beginning of WW2. I haven't repadded mine yet, but since you report your french-looking Signet sounding 'sweeter', I'll move it up in the stack a ways!!

Actually, I love the intonation of all the early Bundy wood clarinets, both Paris and Elkhart. Also impressive is the thickness of the nickel plating on the early Signet, and pre-Signet Selmer Bundy USA horns. Plating just seems to never wear off.
