 Ricardo Morales interview
Author: Ed Palanker

This came to me, and others, on Facebook and I wanted to share it with all of you. CLARINETIST RICARDO MORALES INTERVIEW
www.youtube.com
If you haven't seen this before you should check it out. Not only will you hear him doodle a bit but you will see how well he interviews, how polite he is, how Normal he is, how human he is, how little ego he appears to have for such a great player and how much credit he gives his very talented family for his success.
I was privileged to work with him at a young age, 12-17 and recognized his talent immediately. so did my wife, but of course didn't realize then he would materialize into one of the greatest players of all time.
I've worked with some great young students at Eastern Music Festival in my 25 year tenure there, several which are now playing in our major orchestras,Tom, Richie, Brian to name a few, and I'm not taking anything away from them because they are really very fine players, when I say that Ricardo was a stand out then and now. What I still can't understand is how some teachers at the time he was applying to schools didn't recognize it. I don't want to build him into something he's not but in my opinion he's one of the finest clarinetist and musicians I've ever heard, or worked with past and present. If you like someones style better that's understandable, style, tone, musicianship is often a matter of opinion but one can't deny his ability. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

I got a chuckle out of his last answer of the interview, "I just play the clarinet--that's all I do". Made in comparing his *talent* to the rest of his family. What a guy.

BTW, this is an older interview, but nonetheless interesting.......

Thanks William, I most of missed it when it first came around, or maybe I forgot already, after all I am older then 50, by just a few years of course. Yes, he's a classy guy, short on ego big on talent. ESP

I didn't put a lot of publicity into it, but thanks for the link. It's had a good number of views.
