Recently I referred a student of mine to a new teacher who, I have heard from another clarinetist, is "Robert Marcellus good." Received an e-mail saying " (Name) is a delightful (****) and needs a clarinet teacher like me. ....Thank you for the referrals."
I know we have to have great self esteem to be good performers and teachers but this seems a little much!

Sorry.
I referred a student of mine I have had for four years to a new teacher.
I took her as far as I could go.
The new teacher sent me an e-mail that thanked me and said that "she needed a teacher like me."
I am glad she didn't come out and say that I had ruined her, although she might be thinking that. No big deal. I would not have the moxy to send a note
bragging how good I am. I would just say, "Thanks, I appreciate your trust in my musicianship." Something simple.

The new teacher didn't say things well, but credit her with having the courtesy to thank you for the referral.
