 Tremolo high a to c#
Author: brsmith

Need a fingering for high a to c# tremolo.

If I use fingers 2 and 3 for the A and then add 1-2 on the right hand for the C# I get a weak representation of this. The a sounds rather poor.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Try playing your C#6 with just the first finger, no thumb or register key. You can also play a quick D6 with no fingers--just for your fingering bag of tricks.

Those are the fingerings I use when I play the solo clarinet part second strain of "On Wisconsin"--they make Bucky proud....LOL

Ditto William's advice. These "overblown" fingerings work well on many clarinets, and work fantastically on many bass clarinets.

brsmith's fingering will work buch better if you release the 2 fingers for the A when going to the C#, it's pretty well in tune, just a bit flat though. (Great on the bass clarinet). So the C# will be like playing the side key F# a 12th lower but using the register key. It's a bit more awkward but better in tune. Using the 1st finger as suggested above is usually the preferred one because it's easier when playing fast.
On the last page on my fingering chart on my website, I have trills and tremolo's for that, and the other, registers. You might want to check it out. ESP

PS. I just checked my fingering chart and noticed that I don't have that one on it, strange since I have just about every other tremolo and trill on it.

William's suggestion is the most common A-C# tremolo choice, although the C# is low in pitch.

Ed's fingering is more in tune, but more difficult to coordinate to play a very rapid tremolo.
