Does anyone know whether any of the buffet eb clarinet models are available with the extra eb/ab lever on the left hand ? (similar to the prestige's in bb/A/bass) ?

I doubt the R13/RC Prestige Eb will have the LH Ab/Eb - none of the Leblanc or Yamaha Eb clarinets have it either.

Though the bit where they say "The Eb, D and C have the same features as instruments in the Prestige range." should be followed with 'apart from the LH Ab/Eb lever'.
I see on there the RC Prestige Bb/A is "Available also with full Boehm system: 20 keys / 7 rings articulated G#, F# / G# trill, low Eb"

...isn't that an optional feature anyway? Most manufacturers might not have it in their catalogs, but that doesn't mean it cannot be had.
Then again, maybe such a factory option costs more than at your friendly woodwind technician's...

I acknowledge that you asked about Buffets, but for what it's worth, the Patricola Eb's have the left hand eb/ab key. I believe it's a standard feature.

A week or so ago I saw a 5 piece Eb clarinet case from Buffet. I wasn't aware that Buffet made a 5 piece effer. Any info?

The Eb/Ab key is present on an Eb sopranino clarinet I own, as it is a full Boehm, complete with low Eb and a donut key in the left hand. It was made by an entity called the Japan Musical Instrument Company and seems to be a miniature copy of the donut key full Boehm Buffet clarinets in Bb and A from the early 20th century. It was purchased at a yard sale and the case included a card with the ship address of a sailor from Wisconsin.

Hello,
It should be a relatively simple matter for a good technician to fabricate the parts and install them on most make and model instruments. (E Flat or other Clarinets) When well done the work should match the original key work in style and still add the mechanism you would like.

That's the RC (and possibly the R13) Prestige Eb - the lower joint C/G tonehole goes through the middle tenon and lower joint socket in the same manner as the C#/G# tonehole on a full Boehm (or any clarinet with this design of articulated C#/G# key).
Ok, so it fits in a smaller case, but is there any other real advantage in having a Boehm system Eb with a two piece body?

I guess there's an advantage to the manufacturers, in so far as a single-piece Eb body requires a larger piece of wood than either of the joints in a Bb. And the smaller joints might make efficient use of stock that otherwise would only be used for barrels.

For a while in the 90s Buffet was making the R 13 Ebs with a two piece body. A friend of mine had one.
The Selmer Recital also has an Eb lever IIRC.
