Hi everyone--
I am a band director and have a younger student (6th Grade) who is looking to buy a used wooden Andino clarinet. I have searched the archives here and have seen many positive things about the plastic models, but not so much the wooden ones. The price is much lower than Yamaha and other wooden clarinets, but is the quality worth the price? Any advice you can give would be great.

That would depend highly upon what the seller was asking for the clarinet. How much does this person want for the instrument? Also, which model of clarinet is your student considering?

The Andino clarinets ("by" Rossi) remain a mystery to me. I pooped around with them at ClarinetFest in Vancouver, but my mouthpiece would not fit in all of the barrels; so I did not get to try them all.
To me they seemed quite "Vito" like; but I think that you and your student need to arrange to audition that horn and then see if it seems to be worth the money and a good value compared to alternatives.
