 Leblanc Paris III France Clarinet?
Author: AJ4

Hi,

I have a Leblanc Paris III France Bb clarinet. My dad bought this for me used in about 1980. Information on this model is scarce. Can anyone tell me anything about this instrument?

Thanks,
AJ

Are you sure you are not confusing the III with the logo?
The normal Leblanc logo looks approx rather like..

LEBLANC
Paris
III

I have never come across a Leblanc III
Check on the top joint is there a specific model designation e.e. LL, L7, L200 or similar.

Here's a page with all manner of Leblanc logos - you should be able to find the logo that matches your clarinet on here (you'll have to copy&paste the address as the # won't allow it to be made clickable):

It's entirely possible I'm confusing the logo for a Roman "III". The logo on the clarinet looks just like #2 on the supplied page.

So, is it just called a "Leblanc Paris"? Can anyone tell me more about it?

Thanks!

The 'III' are the stylised lyre/kithara strings (with tuning pegs at the top). Is there anything else stamped near the logo?

Check the serial numbers with the list as well.

Yours sounds like a Leblanc professional model made in the late 40's-50's. They later started adding the word "Symphonie" changed that to "Classic" for awhile, then back to "Symphonie", "Classic II", "Symphonie II"etc. in the 1960's, 70's, 80's. The Clarinet Perfection website should help you narrow yours down to the year. This is a well built, nice playing clarinet, enjoy.

What is the serial number and is the brand name like this:

G LEBLANC

or this:

G
LEBLANC

These things would help date it.
