Hiya

I know this is an odd Topic, but can anyone help suggest a name for our Band?

Our lead is an ALTO SAX
I play KEYBOARDS and CLARINET
we also have BASS GUITAR, LEAD/RYTHEM GUITARS and DRUMS

So far we have come up with HERBIES HEADMEN (because we are know for the Song Camelion) and Odds and Sodds!

These sound a bit off!!!

We have been together for 2 years and still no name!!

We are all male byh the way and have no voice (only if required) Instrumental in otherwords!!!

Thanxs

S.koumas!

Naming a band is one of the hardest things to do in my opinion. I don't know what kind of music you guys play, sounds like a jazz band of sorts. Could you enlighten me?

Lemme see,, Litttle Ducks from Mars is already taken. Cosmic Cockroaches may not fit the style of music you play. Need more info on your group. This could be fun!

Mmmm......something that might work is to make up an anagram of all your names. There are websites out there that do just that - you type in your own name, or whatever, and up pops an anagram of it. Very clever and great fun! What style of music do you play? Where do you all live? This could all have an effect on your name as a band. Good luck, and keep us informed.

I find simple band names to stand out. You know something like "SODA". The odd complicated names are cute but very forgetable.

How about "Compendium" . The definition of abridgement or summary (in this case your instrumentation/style). BTW if you do decide to use it you know where to send the $ after you hit the pop charts! ;>)

I agree with Jeff about simple names. They tend to be a lot easier to remember. I'm personally fond of "Off-beats" or "The Um-pas" these could lead people to think you're a dixie band though. Thought I'd write them anyways, they could inspire something brillant.

I have always found odd inspiration in roadsigns. Some friends of mine formed a ska band and named it "Slow Children At Play." Roadsigns are brief because one must be able to read them while driving without taking too much attention from the roard.

Also, other everyday life things can spark the imagination. Look in the pantry or refrigerator for interesting phrases.

Good luck! Let us know when you think of a name!

How about "Sneezy"? or "Sneezy Dot Org"?

What are your day jobs? Anything you guys have in common?

Some other possibilities, off the top of my head...

Electoral College
The Swinging Chads
The Dot Com Billionaires

(I guess "Bush" is take as are "The Supremes." "Gore" would be good, but maybe too suggestive of punk rock.)

Jungle Jazzmen
Music Mayhem
Gerry and the Manders
Savannah
Sirocco
Kasbah
The Blue Rhythmics
Chilli Hot
S and the Rest

Hey Don, I love "Swinging Chads". :-) Often the band names I like best are the ones with a little bit of self-mocking humor in them, like "Average White Band" and "Pet Shop Boys". Has anyone done...?

Pizza Drivers
Waiting Tables
Lame Excuses
Damp Pajamas
Cockroach Wranglers
Sure Beats Working
