While I'm on here, I thought I'd post for MusAid, a non-profit organization that collects musical instruments, materials (reeds, strings, mouthpieces, neckrests, etc.), and sheet music for musicians in developing countries. You can check us out at htttp://musaid.org and look at some of the projects we've done in the past, in Kyrgyzstan and India.
I am currently working on gathering materials for al-Kamandjati, a music school in Palestine that provides free instruments and lessons to Palestinian children in refugee camps in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and Lebanon. Their school was destroyed by arsonists last year who thought that Western classical music was too progressive, and as a result, have a very limited amount of resources available.
If anyone has any old mouthpieces, instruments, swabs, sheet music (especially beginning instructional books), etc that they could donate, we would really appreciate it. You can also become a member of MusAid on our website.
Thanks again -
