First of all my apologies, I had started a thread "Looking for a Clarinet" in which I had gotten some great responses from several of you. Unfortunately the thread was deleted because I posted a link to that auction site, a violation of the user agreement. It certainly wont happen again.
I picked up a vintage Noblet clarinet, serial no.88241 for cheap from that site that will not be named ($125). From my internet research I believe it's a model 40 and with some work should be a good playing instrument. It will at least let me get back into playing for a year or two until I determine I'm ready for a pro level horn. As soon as it arrives I plan on looking for a tech to repad and clean it up a bit.

Hi Bill, welcome to a good group. Yup, guess you ran up against one of our "no-no's. Web master Mark C and Asst, GBK keep us in line, very reasonably, so don;t be concerned. You may have a very good cl, mine is a bit earlier. #44,9xx which I dearly love as a well-in-tune, easy player for most all music. Noblet was joined with Leblanc some years ago, becomming their Semi-Pro cl line, very similar IMHO to their PRO Leb's , with models 40 and 45. I don't know what diff's there may be, but your's should be a fine player for quite a few years. My former Nob Eb Soprano was just excellent. Other Nob owners, please help. egards, Don

I got the horn today, it actually is in much better shape than I expected for $125. Will definetly need a re-pad though.
I'm getting excited!

I agree 100% and can understand that, because people may use it to generate interest in something that they're trying to sell.
However, I do wish people would stop treating Ebay like some sort of Mafia - and using expressions like 'that auction site'. Come on guys. Let's grow up!
I can assure you that Buffet's marketing and pricing of equipment within the EU makes Ebay look like Snow White!
I've bought loads of stuff from Ebay and I think they're okay. It's great for gauging the going prices for equipment and for comparing prices between countries.
