Hello all,
Hope your holidays are as festive as mine, and that you all have a safe and prosperous new year and 2010!
Just a quick question, I am preparing for a college audition an (apparently) little known piece by an (apparently) little known composer, Paul Pierne. The piece is very interesting, however, i would like to know more about it just in case I am asked at the audition.
Above the title, in French, is written:
"Morceau de Concours du Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris, 1931
A mon ami Auguste Perier, Pofesseur au Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris"
After a Word translation and a Google translation, I now know that the piece was written for a competition. From additional searches on "Morceau de Concours" only, I find that in recent years the competition was for the final exams at the Conservatory.
Anyone have any additional, or corrected, information they can provide me? Either with regard to Pierne's history, aside from the fact that he was Gabriel's cousin, or to the piece itself? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Mr. Van Cott, since I purchased the sheet music from you, would you have any additional information?
Thanks all!
Tammy Holland
