I have to admit that I am not much of a clarinet player, I play the sax. However, I found a very interesting old clarinet. The woman that is selling it wants $75 for it. It is a wooden B flat clarinet with a wooden mouthpiece. I can't remember exactly, but I believe that it is a M. Londeix. I swore that is what it was, but people are telling me that I must be mistaken, because they didn't make clarinets.
It seemed to be in pretty good shape, the only problem i noticed was the silver ring around the bottom of the clarinet was coming loose, and it needs some new corks.
I was just wondering if it sounds like this clarinet would be worth buying.
Thank you to anyone that may be able to help me.

Sounds interesting, Katie.
However, as usual, number of questions arise.
1. Who are 'they', the ones who tell you Londeix didn't make clarinets? That's a tough situation for you to be in; you just *saw* one! You might want to check the name again to be sure. I've never seen that 'brand' so I can't make an intelligent comment. Hopefully, knowledgeable folks will chip in some info for you on that.
2. Why are you interested in it?
If you want to play it, it needs to be standard (LP) pitch.
What fingering system is it? - not a problem, especially for a sax player, but would be interesting to know. Might also give you a tiny clue to its age. But, that's not the main point now.
If you want to just dis-play it, it doesn't matter what pitch it is.
3. Is it worth $75 ?
If its bell ring is loose and it obviously needs corks, you can bet with confidence that it needs at least a general overhaul to be reasonably playable.
Do you want to invest in that or do you want to fix it up yourself?
Are there any major cracks? - assuming it's wood -
I'd ask myself these questions before buying a horn for any amount.
Well, it's an old horn with a wood mouthpiece, name is probably M. Londeix
and it needs some work to make it functional. The lady wants $75 for it.
If I really liked the instrument, I'd balk a little at the price but, that's not a horrendous amount if you really like it. I've made worse deals :o]
I can only speak for myself when I tell you that - I love sax players, and strings players and brass players and even *some* percussionists :|ooooops especially ones who understand clarinets (even a little). After all, we're in the same family of... music makers. Seriously -- I don't think you'll find much prejudice here in that respect.
