 Cleaning Mouthpieces Revisited

Ok, I recently got a Selmer table mouthpiece that had a mouthpiece patch on it the clear kind). This tough, wretched patch had to be well past 20 years old.

Problem: The adhesive just wouldn't come off when the patch was "plied off". What to do?

I used a product called "Adhesive Remover by UN-DU". My wife says it can be bought at any Hobby Lobby or Michael's stores (we use this at my office to remove the remnants of stubborn adhesive labels from floppy diskettes).

The UN-DU product has to be used *slowly & sparingly*, or else you will get a flood of advesive which becomes a _movable feast_.

AND ... you guessed it, when I was all through I put the mouthpiece into a 50% bleach "dilution" to get rid of all the little adhesive crud & discoloration.

I think i now have one of the nicest Selmer Table mouthpieces (this is one of the oldies ... no circle ... the words are just printed/etched into the Table) Good luck to all. mw

You can also use Avon's "Skin So Soft" for removing adhesive remains.

Mark, glad the 50% bleach solution is working so well.

Just got back from a week trip and can't believe the number of postings I have to catch up on. I'll be reading for hours!!!
