 A Wonderful Christmas Present

This won't be for everyone, but I got the neatest Christmas present and thought I'd share it with my sneezy friends. I was struggling out the door for rehearsals and Sundays (church orchestra) with horn (large case), folder, larger folder, etc. I shopped around for a gig bag, but didn't like the features or the prices. So for Christmas, my wife got me a carrier that held my music folder and horn case in the main compartment. In a separate zippered compartment I have an alphabetized accordian folder (big and thick) full of music that we play fairly often (we play 10-12 selections per service). In another separate zippered compartment I have plenty of room for bible, notebook, and whatever else I might need. There's LOTS of room left over after all that!

So what does this sound like? It's luggage of course! Not a big lunking thing, but a very nice black canvas softside flight bag that can be carried by handles or by shoulder strap. The handles are my favorite kind where a separate handle from each side meet and velcro together - so if a zipper fails the horn doesn't fall! And following my insistence that I didn't want a bunch of money going into this thing, I think she got it at K-Mart (Concourse brand) for twenty bucks - and yes, I'm very satisfied with the quality. It really is perfect . . . I can't imagine doing without it now. And what a great way of substituting a cheap commodity item in place of a much higher priced niche product like a gig bag.

So if you're tired of going out the door juggling your stuff, head on down to the local K-mart (or whatever) . . . you might even catch it on a blue light special!

Oh, yeah . . . Merry Christmas, y'all.

Wow, what a load! Thanks for the reminder of how blessed we are at my church to have storage for music. We make copies to practice at home. We actually have an extensive library of music and a room of our own (for the most part) with studios for lessons. At our Wednesday rehersal we are given a tenative run-down of what music is happening for Sunday's services or whatever special events are coming up. A briefcase along with my clarinet case usually does it for me! My husband got mine (the briefcase) free from work as an award for something.

Thanks for sharing & serving!

I would prefer one of the cheap wheeled bags you buy at one of the marts. That way you carry things less.

House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the Lord :])

Bible !? I usually find half a bottle of tequila before a performance does the trick.

That is absolutely awesome! Psalms 33:3 sums it all up
Sing to the Lord a new song, play skilfully and shout for joy. I have the same problem as you and should look into that. It is a great idea thanks so much!
