A dear friend who plays principal clarinet in the Topanga Symphony has been asked to play the Mozart concerto on November 15 and, as you might expect, would love to be able to play it on a basset clarinet. I've read several posts to KLARINET about basset clarinet availability in New York and several European cities, but not Los Angeles...or prehaps I missed them. If anyone knows of a basset clarinet in the Los Angeles area that he might "rent," please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Don!
Perhaps RDG, if anyone, would have one for rent. One could also try one of the shops in San Francisco. I doubt if Baxter Northrup would have one. In fact, I've never seen one in private hands here in Los Angeles. Having had less than good luck in renting instruments out, I would not wish to rent my basset horn out. Good Luck!
