As this is against the rules of the Bboard, the moderators are being very kind (since it's so last minute and the calendar might not be noticed in time by those perhaps interested) in letting me re-post this. The proper protocol is to send such messages to the Announcement section.
------------------------------
Hello BBoard members,
I've been a part of l'Orchestre de la francophonie canadienne for this
season and I'm just inviting any Montréalers (extremely last minute- my
apologies!) to come see Beethoven 4-9 tonight until Friday night.
We recorded the symphonies at Palais Montcalm in Québec City in July, and
we're playing them "one more time!" in Montréal at Salle Pierre Mercure
for $15 a concert or $40 for all four. Since I'm only posting this now, the Beethoven 1, 2, and 3 concert last night is of course no longer an option.
Tonight is Egmont's Overture, Beethoven 4 and 5. Tomorrow is 6 and 7 and
then Friday is 8 and 9.
The other clarinetist with us is a really great player named David Lemelin who also studied with Mr. Crowley at McGill while I was there, and he's currently a student of Larry Combs at DePaul for his postgraduate studies. Aside from clarinet nerdyness, I would personally enjoy some of the fantastic players in the other woodwind sections that include members of the Vancouver, Windsor and Chicago Civic symphonies and while our schedule has been crazy, there have been some really nice moments during the concerts.
The rotation for the rest of the nights is David- Principal on 4, 7, 9 and
myself playing Principal on 5, 6 and 8.
Sorry about the haphazard attempt to inform you all. Hope some of you can
make it!
