OK, feeling very pleased with myself. I just located Bonade's castle on Google Earth. Small joys ...

He had a farm in New Hope and a place in France, but I did not know he had a castle.
Was it built out of reeds held together with tobacco ashes and spokes of Dutch Rush?
Probably it was hard to SCALE the walls. (ah say, that theres a Bonade teaching reference, son)

Ken,

The latitude is:
46°26'47.97"N
and the longitude is:
0°40'27.04"E

At least that's what my Google Earth "favorites" tells me. I've been enjoying the book on him by Carol Anne Kycia.

Bill -

I went there on Google earth and all I saw was an intersection with tall walls along the road, and no signs saying anything about Bonade or Castle. Could you put up an image?

There's a small town in Northern England called Barnard Castle, and a march by Goff Richards of the same name (not sure how to get Google maps to show coordinates). Close...

The closest village (or whatever) is called "La Tour Au Cognum." The castle is immediately across a bridge.

Is he home?

I honestly thought it was a metaphorical castle until the jpgs. were posted
