 Mouthpiece For Boosey 2-20
Author: Tsphinx

I just purchased a beautiful Boosey & Hawkes 2-20 London clarinet, and I'm curious as to what mouthpiece I should buy for it.
I've read the other posts about the Boosey's, however no information as to what mouthpiece would suit this horn best.
I'm open to suggestions............

Any of the Vandorens will be fine.

Do check the barrel is 67mm as shorter barrels will make the throat notes mega sharp, and even with the 67mm barrel you may still need to pull out by around 1-2mm to put the clarinet in tune with itself.

Any decent mouthpiece will work. Pomarico crystals might work especially well as they have a slightly larger bore than most and tend to lower the pitch of the sharp throat tones which Chris P mentioned above.

Thank you.
I've been looking around, and I found a Boosey & Hawkes 593 large bore
mouthpiece, and am seriously considering it.
Perhaps this may be a good option? They were obviously built for the larger big bore Booseys to begin with.
Hmmm, the Pomarico crystal option sounds nice too.
I really appreciate everyone's input!

Don't expect too much playing-wise from a stock Boosey mouthpiece. I've found the facings to be generally awful.

Thanks for the info David.
Are they worth refacing? The Boosey mouthpieces that is. I just saw a Pomarico Crystal on eBay for $125. Is this a reasonable price for this mouthpiece?

I believe Boosey mouthpieces are worth refacing -- the interior dimensions are reasonable and the material is pretty good (assuming it's a hard rubber mouthpiece and not one of their really cheap plastic ones). As for Pomarico, $125 is getting pretty close to retail price for a new one -- I just purchased a new-old stock bass Pomarico mouthpiece (on eBay, yes) for less than that amount.
