I have a Renate Rusche recording of the piece and I like it a lot.
I was wondering if anyone knows if this piece requires a Low C Bass Clarinet or a Low Eb is enough.
Cheers,
Erez

Schoeck's music has no redeeming qualities. It's what makes you long for the intermission.
The motto of the Othmar Schoeck Society is "Sehen wir Haufen von Hundedreck, denk an dir, Othmar Schoeck," which translates nicely into English as "When we see piles of doggie-doo, Othmar Schoeck we think of you."

I totally disagree with the previous post. I think the Schoeck Sonata is a worthwhile piece of music -- I've performed it and coached it. I can't understand Ken Shaw's invective. I remember attending a vocal recital by legendary bass Hans Hotter, which featured a cycle of songs by Schoeck; intermission came too soon!
