 Yamaha YCL23N intonation

Just picked up one of these. It plays pretty well but high b is flat and high c is like almost a quarter tone flat. Are these models all like this and is there anything to be done for it besides alt fingerings? (first trill key does a pretty good job on the c and the c#/g# on the b).

How long have you been playing for, and what mouthpiece and reed strength are you using?

The opinions I express are my own.

is that b and c above staff or the octave above that?
maybe a leaking pad somewhere?

I have the exact same clarinet as my "workhorse," and it's in tune just fine. Make sure it has that 67mm barrel that it comes with - a shorter one does FUNKY things to it (at least mine).

Note, I overhauled mine completely because it had some small leaks (that I just couldn't track exactly down) and they were wreaking havoc in the altissimo.

<How long have you been playing for, and what mouthpiece and reed strength are you using?>
Since the Kennedy administration ;). Have used 3s and 3.5s with a Yamaha 4C and the one that came with it, a Yamaha Y-12. I've owned two Yamahas in the past, a YCL20 that had a similar problem but not as bad, and a 250 that had no such problem.

B and c above staff. Pads seem pretty tight, has a good seal.

I suspected the barrel at one point because it doesn't have the Yamaha logo, seems to have different style rings and besides that it's only 66mm. I'll see if I have one that length.
