The only Clarinet related topic in this post is that I play the Clarinet for a living...sorry
After a very busy spell I am going to New York city for 4 days for a much needed break for me, and a first time visit to America for my wife and wondered if any of you New Yorkers out there could recommend a Hotel in Manhattan that would suit an averagely paid clarinettist????
I do apologise for doing this but I have noticed that a few of you live and work there....
Cheers!
Ben

Dear Ben,
I'll defer to our bretheren and sisteren from NYC for specific recommendations, but don't exclude any place from consideration in this economic environment. For example, you might get a spectacular deal at a top-flight hotel for 3 of the 4 days you'll be in NYC and, when averaged with the standard rate for one more day, you'd still come out ahead of what an economy hotel would charge, generally. So, let your fingers do the walking--check out Ritz Carlton and Hilton and others like it on the web. NYC is a colossal, cacaphonous mess, but it's a hive of activity 24 hours a day; a place where you can find anything anywhere anytime. Have a safe and enjoyable trip.

I would check out:
Hotwire.com
Travelocity.com
Priceline.com
I have scored amazing deals on hotels from all three of these websites.

Hi Guys
Ive been away for a week or so, so I have only just now seen your replies.
Ken - Thankyou so much!!! there are so many to choose from! That really is very good of you to go to so much trouble!
Joseph - That is great advice thanks! I did also think that there might be some deals to be had given the current downturn in the economy but boy are they hard to find..once you show an interest in going it seems the sharks are still out to take a limb or two!
I have yet to book somewhere but I'm really looking forward to visiting NYC again, I haven't been since 1994 so i'm sure it must have changed quite a bit. Also hoping to catch a few concerts and maybe a show on Broadway if the budget allows!
Thanks again all!!!
Ben
