 RE: Oboe joint

Don - I'll be darned, I've only played clar 2 years longer then you!! Really thot I was the BBoard's senior at 81. Glad you are keeping me company. I played oboe for some 10 years when our local symp needed one [poorly]. Do I read you right that you need a lower joint for a Signet? Wood? I really doubt you can find one short of Selmer USA, but look on EBAY [oboe search] someone might have a Sig with a cracked upper joint, and would sell all cheaply. My repair-friend is an oboist, Carl McGuire, in Tulsa, I'll ask him in a few days. I should think that trying to match bores on the "ill wind nobody blows good" would be very difficult to get decent tonality. There may be an "egroups" oboe site, havent seen anything on "early clarinet" which I'm on. Best of luck, Don #2
