I help my father repair instruments when I am home from school. Recently he purchased a clarinet and I am not at all familliar with the name. I could use some help identifying it's age and just any other general history. It is a wooden clarinet. I know it is quite old by several hints. It is stamped HP B (high pitched in Bb), and the serial number is quite small, of course there may not have been many of these clarinets made in the first place but... the brand of the clarinet is M. LeMaire. The model type is Artist, and it was made in Paris. The serial number is 8742. If anyone has any information for me, PLEASE email me at voldoll@utkux.utcc.utk.edu or tomchaffin@citynet.net I do not check here often so, emailing me or my father personally would be better. Thank you, Christi

Christi,
hopefully you will check back - if I only write to you then no one else gets the benefits of any research.
The New Langwill Index shows that M. Le Maire was a trade name for US imported WW Instruments. In other words - a stencil made by some unspecified company(ies) for resale by a distributor here.
