I was wondering if anyone here could help me. I have a clarinet that belonged to my sister. She hasn't played it for many years and I have been tempted to trade with her. (Mine is a student model Yamaha). She's willing to give it to me since the purchase was made by my parents but I am curious to figure out what brand it is.
The only brand I can see is on the bell. It has an engraving of "Reval" or "Rival". The only other inscriptions are the serial # and that it is made in France. It is a wood clarinet, so I assume that it's at least an intermediate if not a professional instrument. I'm just curious to find out more about it. If anyone has any information they could pass on, I would really appreciate it.

I've seen some clarinets named "Revan" on That Infernal Internet Auction Site Whose Name Shall Not Be Mentioned, but have never touched nor played one.
By the way, "woodness" is no guarantee of even intermediate quality necessarily; instruments of quality ranging from horrible to wonderful have been made in all sorts of materials including various woods, various metals, hard rubber and even plastic.
