If you are having trouble finding Blayman clarinet stands or pegs (especially the hard to find Eb peg w/extension) Fred Weiner just yesterday received a new shipment of Blayman accessories.
Woodwind/Brasswind and some of the other on-line retailers are showing long waits to fill orders.

I had my local repairperson, MJ, drill two extra holes in my Blaymann two clarinet stand--one for my effer and one for my C. For my effer, I use an old flute peg which I cut down a bit, for the C, and older Bb peg that fits perfectly. So on my Blaymann two clarinet stand, I can securely set all four of my soprano clarinets without putting out the "big bucks" for the official Blaymann asessories which are hard to find. With all four--A, Bb, C & Eb--the stand takes up a minimun of room, all clarinets are very accessable and it is not at all "tippy". Now, if I could only figure out a way to also include my low C bass...................

Thanks GBK! I'm a big fan of the Blayman pegs. I use them for clarinet, flute, and alto flute.
One thing I've done to make my doubling equipment easier to haul is instead of using a Blayman base I found the Hamilton base (cross arms with 5 holes) to work quite well with the Blayman pegs. While this may not be quite as solid as using a Blayman base, my horns feel secure.
I have separate Hamilton bases for clarinet and flutes. Depending upon which horns I need to use for a performance, sometimes I have my clarinet and flute pegs together on one base and sometimes separately. I also discovered that the Blayman pegs fit my Beechler saxophone stand. The options of using the pegs on these 3 stands gives me a lot of flexability.
William -- I prefer the Hercules bass clarinet stand to anything else I've tried.

Fred Weiner told me that the Jeanne Music Stand bases and pegs will fit into (and are interchangeable with) the Blayman stands...GBK

Roger--I was just attempting some humor wishing I could also stand my bass cl on my customized Blaymann stand. I actually have one of those clunky, heavy K&M B.CL/Bsn stands. Never used a Hercules, but in the pics they look a bit complicated. At least, the K&M folds up in one piece.

The Jeanne pegs are quite good. They are virtually indistinguishable from the Blayman pegs.

If you're talking about this patent, it's long since expired.
In those days, patents expired 17 years from the date of issuance. Nowadays, they expire 20 years from the "priority date" (which is usually the date the patent application was filed).
What a lot people don't realize, though, is that a lot of patents (probably most of them, actually) expire sooner than that because the owner fails to pay the maintenance fees they have pay periodically to keep the patent in force. If a patent is older than about 4 years or so, it's worth checking to see if the maintenance fees have been paid, because there's a good chance they haven't been.
