I am currently a soph. in college and have had a Selmer Signet 100 since 6th grade. I was wondering if anyone knew how to determine the age of this horn. The serial # is 2559586. I hope someone can help me.
Thanks!

You might try the listing Mark has set up on this website. Just go to the little box on the upper right hand corner of this very page and scroll to "equipment" and click on the "go" button. In there you will find a listing of "How old is my..." and then click on that link and do a search there.
If you can't find it there, you may find out some information from others who visit this board who are WAY more knowedgeable than I.

I've just added "Serial Numbers" and "Makers" as entries into the menu list since they're such common questions.

Hi Jill, I have a [mediocre] Signet, ser. # 228,617, which I date by keys and wood condition to 1960-70's. You might check your ser # [did you double the 5?], it seems doubtful they made 2 million of these. Sorry, no more help. Don

the 5 has been doubled in the serial number. The real number is 259,586. Thanks for pointing that out. By the way, i only use this clarinet for marching now. I have a leblanc that i play on for my studio lessons, wind ensemble rehearsals and auditions.
thanks for everyone's help so far!
