Well.. i'm part of a community band, and we decided to play this song (See title), anyhow, it has some interesting parts in it that i was wondering how to play..
There's one part, about measure 31ish.. which is writen as a trill from g to a, then under it is the melody, but it's a solo part, and calls for only one clarinet to play that part, about it is says "Play the melody line while continuing to trill (this is accomplished by fingering the melody in rhythm, but adjusting the length of each tone to the speed of the trill)" soo.. what exactly does this mean? it is like.. hit the 1st semi beat of each note and continue trilling? anyhow.. it's an interesting peice, where you remove parts of the clarinet as you play, bell, lower section, etc.. it's pretty funny actully.. anyhow, thanks, if you actully understand what this is saying?
ps, it's by Adolf Schreiner, transcribed by George S. Howard, Col. USAF (ret.)

I've seen it done... Its "cute." Sort of like a one person version of the Haydn Farewell Symphony.
There was some discussion of this piece a few month ago, you might want to search for it.

Is this piece published by anyone? I'd like to get a copy for our band.

I performed this last year with a high school band directed by my friend. The trill section is to be performed as much like a violin double-stop as possible. Obviously we can't do double-stops, so the actual melody has to interrupt the till, but you must keep trilling. Just stop the trill momentarily so that you can play the melody pitch, then resume the trill. It's quite fun; and the audience gets a kick out of it!
Good luck,
Frank
