Great stuff.
Wonder if that basset clarinet is a Morrie special?

Thanx for the neat video...never seen it before. It's hard to believe he's already 35!

Peter -
It's definitely a Morrie instrument. The video doesn't show the bottom keys, so I couldn't see whether they had the reinforcement bar, but his trill key design looks like nothing else. The wood looks like rosewood, which makes sense since it's physically lighter than grenadilla and makes a basset clarinet easier to handle.
The Backun site http://www.backunmusical.com/clarinets.html site doesn't list a basset clarinet, and shows only grenadilla bodies, so this is obviously a one-off. For Ricardo, you would do anything.
Great video. All the instruments shown are Backuns. I wonder if he plays Selmer Recitals at all now.
By the way, did Ricardo take the Chicago job or decide to stay with Philadelphia?

The Basset is not a Morrie instrument as far as I know. The Basset he is using in the clips of the Mozart is a Selmer Recital converted by Steve Fox.

JTS is correct, that's the basset he used when he played the Mozart with Philly a few years back. He was using the Selmer Recital clarinets then and had not yet partned with Backun at that time. ESP
