Are any of you out there working on a DMA program at CUA? What's the program like? Pros and Cons. Thank you for your comments in advance.
Good Times!

Hi,
I went to U of Maryland, but know some folks who went to CUA. One benefit is you have a wide choice of teachers. One disadvantage is the department is relatively small, I think. Another benefit (or con, depending how you look at it) is I think the DMA program is less academically intense than at other institutions in our area, like Peabody and U of Maryland. It's kind of pricey too, from what I understand. It's a pretty campus, with a beautiful cathedral. Practice rooms seemed kind of limited. I played in a couple of musical theater shows there. They didn't have stagehands to help the recitalists like they did at UMD, but maybe that's not a big deal. I don't know much else about it, I guess. If I hear more, I'll post again.

I'm doing one there now...you get to choose who you study with...a definitely pro. It is a very short DMA program. You can finish all of your academic classes in one year if you work very hard (14 hrs/semester...crazy, but can be done). After your 28 hours of classes the rest is just lessons, ensembles, and recitals.
