I ran across a couple of old reed knives I had many years ago. One of them is beveled on both sides of the blade. The other is made from a file & is only beveled on one side.
For single reeds, which is the better type? I actually made clarinet reeds during my college years, but can't recall what type of knife I used.

The double sided is a razor knife usually used for scraping, the single beveled is usually for cutting but you know what, whatever works. Just keep it sharp. ESP

When I did a lot of work with the knife, I found that the double beveled one never cut smooth because it always flexed as I pressed t to the reed. The thicker, single bevel cut smoother for me.
