Couesnon

Hello all

I found this board and hope that someone here knows the answer to this...

I have a Couesnon clarinet and am trying to find out the age of it
Have been thinking about giving it an overhaul but...

Cant find any serialnumber on it
All it says is:

COUESNON
SA
PARIS
It's clearly made of wood and it's quite heavy
Anyone who got any idea when Couesnon started with serialnumbers??

Sorry I can't help with dates. Would they come from around 1950s?

I've been hoping to test one of them because they have such a good reputation.

Do you play xaphoon?

In my experience, the Couesnon "Monopole Conservatoires" clarinets (and saxes) are excellent, but the older models such as the one under discussion are merely good. This opinion is based on having overhauled and/or owned about four or five of each type.

I had a guess that the 1940 or 50 could maybe be could be the time of production yes, but I'm not sure since there's no serialnumber on it.

But I think I'm gonna try to give it a shot with the overhaul...

It has a beautiful sound somethimes, rich and deep, but other times it is really impossible to make a sound on it at all... think it is the weather who does it ??

Yes, I plays Xaphoon and also the sax and clarinet...

The xaphoon has become my absolute favorite since I bought it about tree years ago. It's just so much fun :-)
