Hi Everyone,
I posted previously about my mid-joint/tenon binding and succesfully had it turned doen and this has alleviated the problem. Vermont has been raining more than usual which is a fair amount even when it is dry and the humidity is high, the new problem is the bell is binding to the point where I cannot budge it. This is a new R13 by the way. I temporarily solved the problem by sticking the bottom half of the clarinet in the refridgerator for ten minutes and I was able to release the bell. Until I get to the dealer I am just putting the bell on over the cork.
Now the question, even though I am going to my dealer and have the clarinet looked at, has anyone had this problem and is there a safer solution for reasing the bound up sections?

The only safe solution is to have the tenon/socket fit adjusted ASAP. This is a very common problem with new Buffets, a combination of very close tolerances and less than perfectly matured wood.
In short term carry on as you are by not putting bell completely over tenon.

Sooooo....
...to make sure that you could separate the lower joint and bell you put a new clarinet in the refrigerator.
I think that the cost of having the lower joint sanded down properly is significantly less than cracking some part of the lower portion of the clarinet.
I wouldn't use the refrigerator again. If you are already playing the clarinet significant amounts of time I would frequently remove the bell and dry the tenon and the socket during use.
Complete agreement with Norman...get it to be adjusted ASAP.

I don't think the fridge is a concern unless it is only a once in a while thing. You do want to get the joint adjusted ASAP, but as long as you don't take it out of the fridge and put the clarinet in an unusually warm area.
I've seen the method used several times and have never seen any problem.
