I have a second-hand wooden oboe that I bought when I was living in England a couple of years ago. I am very interested in finding out more about it and was wondering if there was anyone out there that could help.

It says 'Sold by T.W. Howarth & Co. London' on the bell. On the upper joint is says 'Made in Italy' and a number, probably the serial number, 5931. It has a really beautiful tone.

I have emailed Howarth but they haven't replied yet. Hopefully there is someone out there who can tell me a bit about the background of this instrument.

Thanks,
Since you have had no replies, may I suggest you re-do the title to something like, "Oboe, Howarth, Italy?, Please Help". We have a number of European reader-posters who may know, possibly someone it Italy, Milano?? Don
