This recently started web site features live and recorded material from concerts with some major European orchestras. The idea is to make it possible to view live performances over the web in real time, as well as on demand later.

In my orchestra RSPO, we have decided to participate in this project in an ambition to be in the front row in the digital technological development to make our art form available to a bigger audience world wide. We are represented with a program that contents:

Richard Strauss: Suite from Der Rosenkavalier
Richard Wagner: Overture and Isolde's Lovedeath from Tristan and Isolde
Alexander Skrjabin: The Poem of Ecstacy

Conductor is our commander and chief Alan Gilbert, the next chief conductor of New York Philharmonic.

Join the free one week trial to view all concerts up until now:

alphie,

thank you for this. it's quite wonderful. i've registered for my free week and it's likely i'll become a regular.

it was also fun to get a look at Alan Gilbert, soon to be the leader of my home team.

Funny enough not so many people replayed to this thread. I’m just curious to know if more people checked it out and if you downloaded the free trial week, what do you think of the idea of viewing live concerts in real-time/on demand from various parts of the world. At the moment there is not so much going on because summer holidays are at the doorstep and as far as I know, only regular season concerts are being broadcasted. We have a handful of concerts to be broadcasted for the next season but for the moment nothing has been listed yet.

Alphie -

American Public Media has nearly 30 groups of free podcasts http://americanpublicmedia.publicradio.org/music/ of live performances, including Performance Today, http://performancetoday.publicradio.org/, and SymphonyCast, http://symphonycast.publicradio.org/.

I have bookmarked over 100 classical radio station feeds, but I seldom have time to listen to them, because the APM materials are live and top quality.

Frankly, I doubt that you'll find many people willing to pay to hear ClassicLive when so much is free.

Ken, your links only feature concerts from radio broadcasts as far as I can see. Are there live visual concerts as well? That’s sort of the point with http://www.classiclive.com
