I read here and on Klarinet archive about what to use in washing mouthpieces : vineger, listerine, limeaway, etc.
I normally use vineger myself.
A friend of mine suggested "polident", a denture washer/disinfectant.
What do you think about this?
Also, many of my mouthpieces have protective patches on them and I don't want to remove and discard them each time I wash the mouthpieces. My concern is the glue used in those patches, would vineger seep into underneath the patches and make them fall off the mouthpieces, forcing me to buy new patches everytime I soak my mouthpieces in vineger, polident, etc.?

Polident has been mentioned in other places; I can't see how it would hurt.
I've used vinegar with my mouthpiece/patch combinations and have had no trouble with vinegar loosening the patches.

Same here as Mark's experience, K S, on my mp's with plastic or rubber patches, "out of an abundance of caution", I only soak them briefly, [1/2 hour?] and them use a soft-bristled brush if needed. While I advocate use of organic acids, I haven't tried citric [orange or preferably grapefruit] acids as I believe that the 3-5 % acetic acid in vinegar will be the most reliable cleaning solution. I will look-up what Polident contains and give an opinion if warranted. Luck, Don

I've always used lemon juice...pure concentrate. I don't do it too often. I let my mouthpiece sit in a glass for no more than about 10 minutes then take a q-tip to it. It's always worked wonders for me.
