I just purchased a Buffet for my daughter. What I hope is a step up from her E11. It has a few issues I hope you can add your learned opinions to.
From searching many other posts I am fairly sure it falls into the pre R13 catagory. The stats: SN 395XX on both upper and lower section.
Buffet logo on upper, lower and bell. Shared post for A and G# keys
Trill key guides triagular flat prongs.
Bore size: top upper section 14.79 - 14.85mm (out of round) Bottom of top section 14.71- 14.81mm.
Bottom of bottom section flares to 22.1mm at edge. Can't reach top
My questions are:
How old is it and what would Buffet have called this model?
Will a modern R13 replacement barrel work? It came with an adjustable hard rubber barrel with a internal sliding silver sleeve.
The bell has 2 cracks. One almost invisable the length of the bell. Based on other posts it should seal well with super glue. The other is a half dime sized at the edge of the rim.
Would the keys be silver or nickel. They clean up well.
Would Ferree's De'jur B17 pads be a good choice?
Thanks
