F#/C# & C#/G# flat springs

Does anyone know the approximate year that Buffet stopped using flat springs on the F#/C# Right hand spatula

Also when Selmer Paris stopped the C#/G# flat spring ?

just pure curiosity. Thanks

And when did Selmer stop using the flat spring screwed onto the underside of the RH F#/C# touch?

One of my old oval logo Selmers (in A, 70xx with a perforated late for RH1) has the flat spring on the C#/G#, but not on the F#/C# touch, though a later A clarinet I used to use (with the round logo) had the flat spring on both of these keys.

Hi Steve - Recognising the necessity of quick response [ha, ha], I looked at my 1929 Selmer {HS ?model?, with "wings" on logo, Brevette SGDG} #3764, an A , fine dark player, which has a flat spring on the C#/G# but needles on the low long keys. My 1932 RI is a Full Boehm and has all needles. Am quite sure my CT is all needles. Fun, Don

Thanks Chris and Don. I know there's alot of Buffet C#/G# talk (my 51xxx and 55xxx R-13 has flat springs there) but there's little I could find about the Selmer C#/G# or the Selmer & Buffet F#/C#

so many little things I wished I actually logged over the years just for novelty sake.

btw another quick question. When did the Pro Buffets *not* have the crows feet undercutting. I know the real early ones they had it, and the R13s and I can't recall if the pre R13s had it or not.

I can't remember if the 1938 Buffet I've worked on had the cutaway under the RH cluster - I assume it may have, and all cut out by hand until the CNC machines took over.

But at present, all the Schreiber-built Buffets and the French built E13 and C12 student/intermediate models don't have the cutaway.

I have a R13 from 1961- it has a flat spring for the C#/G#, needle for the F#/C# and a cutaway under the RH cluster.

The flat spring for the left pinky C#/G# continued until about 1970/1971 before being replaced by the current needle spring design...GBK
