What size is considered "standard" size for a barrel for an A clarinet? Do older Buffet clarinets in A get better intonation with a 64mm barrel? Are mouthpiece considerations the same as with a Bb clarinet?

The question is how old is 'old'?
The Pre-R13 As use 67 mm barrels and the Bbs 66mm, as far as I know. But recently (ok, not really recent) it has been observed to be 65 and 66 respectively.
I remember reading David Pino's book that he plays on a 68mm barrel for his Bb (someone confirm this please), and therefore, by inductive logic, it's more of what suits you best, rather than a one size fits all thing.

65 mm is standard for a Buffet A clarinet. Different makes have different standard barrel lengths.
A Buffet A clarinet with a 64mm barrel would play sharper than one with a 65 mm barrel. If you play on the flat side this might be for you.
Although many believe that Buffets from the mid 60's to mid 70's can be superior to todays clarinets, this is not axiomatic.
I currently use the same mouthpiece for Bb and A. This will change soon as I have mouthpieces on the way in the near future!

PS...there is mention of pre-R13 A clarinets...wouldn't these be from before 1950?
