Rossini fingering

I am having trouble with the end of the 10th last bar from the end in the Rossini Intro theme & variations.

The last beat mainly - the high E, D, F, A - is there a particular ideal fingering for this sequence. I've tried a few things, but none seem to work at any speed. Maybe though it's my technique, but I'm pretty much OK with the rest of the piece.

Just wondering if anyone has a simple recommendation for this. Or is this little section just friggin' difficult? Cheers.

Pretty much the standard fingerings (including a "short" F but an Eb vent, rather than C#, for the high A) work fine for me. You don't say what your specific problem is but, if it's getting the high A to play rather than an E for the last note in the bar (which can be difficult to do without resorting to tonguing the A), make sure you keep your air support solid through the phrase including the G on the first beat of the following bar. Play through the A, not to it -- if that makes sense. Otherwise, it could be that your reeds are a little light for the mouthpiece you are using. On their website, Vandoren recommends 3.5-4 V12s with an M30.

Perhaps others will have more useful recommendations.

- yes Jack without tonguing the A it is generally coming out as an E. What you say makes sense, although I've tried keeping the air strong throughout this little section but then it goes even more pear shaped. I can play it slowly (half tempo - circa 60) if I tongue the A. I'm guessing yes my reeds may be too soft for this, but I usually have no problems hitting the A nicely with an Eb vent (+F#/Bnat. key) or with the C# key, say at the top of an A minor arpeggio or similar. From what you say I might use reeds that are towards the harder end of my acceptable spectrum for this piece.

I've tried 3.5 V12s on my M30 and they are just too hard and stuffy. I used to play an M13lyre (which is of course more closed at the tip) with 3.5s. Middle of the road 3s seem perfect (for me) on the M30 and I find quite a few 3s even too hard.

GBK - thanks, I'll seek out those threads. (I searched for this topic on this board prior to posting this topic and didn't find anything - although I didn't look exhaustively)
