John Mitchell - Sonata for Clarinet and Piano
Author: Clariphant in Bb
Date:   2007-11-30 03:14

I just heard this piece (available in its entirety for free), and I personally enjoyed it very much. It reminded me a bit of Finzi's works for clarinet, and I was wondering if anybody here was played it before? It sounds quite demanding, but there are some really nice moments in it. I personally enjoyed the last minute or so of the third movement the most. The whole thing just feels quite different to me than most "new" clarinet music (it was written in 1991).
