 Selmer Recital

I'm considering buying a Selmer 10R (Recital) A clarinet. I know there's been some discussion here in the past on appropriate mouthpieces for the Recital, and I already use the C85(105) which is designed for it, but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with the Recital that could help me in my decision making. Yes, I know that playing the instrument and "how it feels to me" are the most important considerations, but other experiences would be quite helpful.

What do you think about it's size and weight?
Any thoughts about the small bore size, intonation, tone quality?

Thanks much!

PS - Buffet fans need not respond! I know all about their proven qualities.

I just sold my Recital. Sometimes I regret that, but mainly I felt the extreme weight (for a Bb) as well as the additional bridge key (I had the F resonance key) made it a pain in the ass. It had a tight, "dark" sound that could be . . . boring. It was flexible (which I would not have expected for such a tiny bore) with my Morgan Rm10 mouthpiece (or anything with a fairly open facing; see the interesting remarks about mpc. and clarinet matching on Ridenour's retail Web site). But, ultimately, it was sort of an "Edsel" of a clarinet: heavy, awkward, weird. Also, I hated the silver-plated keywork, which was too thick and caused my fingers to "drag."

Another consideration is it sticks out like a sore thumb in a clarinet section and blends poorly unless everyone's playing on one. They're fine for solo and chamber settings where it's the only clarinet.

I'm not so sure that I really agree with this. It seems to me that really good players are able to blend regardless of what they play. It may take them awhile to the sound of the group but they can do it.
