They are my favourite. I used to use a pomarico crystal, until I changed teachers and he hated the sound of it and thought I had to make too much effort to make a good sound. SO I went to a couple of places, tried a couple of Fobes, Charles Bay, and finally i got to the last pomarico wooden left in the shop...the whole of my city actually. It had been sitting in the shop for over a year because people were to afraid to even test it...I was the first person to test it..so I took it to my teacher and he loved it too...so i bought it, and a month or 2 later, i dropped it by accident on tiles and it split right down the middle. I had to literally beg the woodwind specialist shop to order me another from overseas and Im glad they did because my new one is slightly better than the last. They all vary slightly. Hope this helps. good luck

Yes, they're good --- I'd venture that they're equivalent in playing qualities to the Pomarico crystals, but of course (unlike crystal), wooden mouthpieces are sensitive to temperature and humidity changes, and require regular care (thorough drying after use, annual oiling), and are susceptible to scratches on the facing. My personal preference is crystal which, other than being brittle and prone to chipping if abused, is a very stable material with a good feel.

Anyone has any recommendations on which model to buy? How do the Pomarico crystals compare to other manufactures?

I've heard that they are the best crystal mouthpieces for the money, I tried one out because at one time i had thought about purchasing a crystal mouthpiece but was turned off by the extremely bright sound it produced. But the second one i tried had a pretty nice sound, but I'm not one for bright sounds, i tend to go toward the liquidy and center tone. In the WW and BW catologue it was the cheapest crystal they had available, if memory serves me corectly.
