I attended an all-Brahms concert Sunday afternoon performed by David Shifrin and principal players of the Toledo Symphony and, of course, a pianist named, I believe, Kasch. He/they performed Sonata No. 1, the trio with cello, Sonata No. 2, and the quintet.
Afterwards I read negative posts (here) of his performances a few years ago, but my experience yesterday was very positive. My wife and I both found the level of performance and musicianship to be very high. Our one complaint was the lack of diversity in the program (especially as we had to forgo the second half of the NY Giants comeback). Shifrin played effortlessly and in full command at all times.
